Place the bacon strips at the base of the slow cooker or Instant Pot. Salt the meat, rub in the oregano and turmeric, and add to the base of the slow cooker/Instant Pot.
a. Slow cooker: cook on low 14-16 hours for pork and 5 hours for chicken, depending on desired crispiness.
b. Instant Pot: set on Meat, high pressure, for 50 minutes for pork shoulder; 25 minutes for chicken
Shred the meat (and remove bones if necessary).
